NFS World: Car review - Audi R8 LMS

Need for Speed World

Car review

Audi R8 LMS Ultra "W-Racing Team"

1. Basics - The Audi R8 LMS is a car specially designed and tuned for 24 hour LeMans races. The car has same engine that is fitted inside the road car, a 5.2L V10. It produces 503 hp. The road car is actually four wheel drive but they had to convert it into two wheel drive to meet the LMS specifications.
It was first launched in 2009 and is still being produced. The car has won many championships so far.

2. Specialties - There is nothing really special in it expect the fact that it's a LeMans car & it's a replica of a real world LeMans racing car.
It's not a cop, treasure hunter, juggernaut, etc. edition.
Just a really professional looking race car with decals all over it. It looks very nice.

3. Pre installations -
*Skill mod's - Skill mod's to increase race cash, nitrous power & duration.
*Aftermarket - Only stage 3 lowering kit comes pre installed. If they installed anything else, it wouldn't resemble a perfect replica of real world car.
*Performance - Gromlen 2 star Race performance parts are pre installed.
*Visuals - Visually its a complete copy paste of W-Racing Team's R8 LMS. Lots of decals and good looking overall design in matte paint. Wheels are painted chrome black.

4. Acceleration - I didn't really like its acceleration. Most of the time I noticed hat the car takes a bit of time (micro seconds) before leaving from the start line.
You can consider it as wheel spin (burnout). That delay in perfect launch makes it slower than Cinque, Reventon and other best cars in perfect launch.
The car goes above 180 kph in 5 sec without any perfect launch skill mod's installed. That's slow compared to other S Class cars. But once it's off the line, the car accelerates very nicely and catching up doesn't take much time if you are driving properly on turns.
It only messes up in 1st and 6th gear, In other gears, you will love the acceleration of this car.
Nitrous power is great, I can say that it's cosmic but many wont agree. The problem is that it doesn't accelerate very fast, so you don't get the expected output after hitting nos. So, 'semi-cosmic' would be a perfect word for its nitrous power.

5. Handling - Its handling is very good. Can't say that its best cause it isn't.
The steering response is a bit slow, very slightly slower than other cars.
I'm very much used to F1, Cinque & 911 GT3 so I find it really slow. (Actually now I even think that Cinque is very slow cause I drive F1 everyday and its.. you know it)
I'm sure many will feel the same but its not a very slow car. Its pretty good and responsive. The only thing is that its not as quick as Cinque or F1 in steering response.
The car is very stable, it didn't spin out even once. Grips very well. Doesn't drift much but if you wobble around a lot on turns making the car unstable, you might end up in a slight drifty situation. But don't worry, you can recover easily without spinning out.
Takes turns like a pro race car. Cutting corners is the way to victory. If you mess around with this car, you wont hit anywhere, you can easily recover but your loss is certain. Its takes on any kind of turn very nicely and it feels very nice on turns but I'd like to remind you that it's still slower than the best cars.

6. Top speed - It takes decades to reach top speed. Literally.
It accelerates nicely till it hits the 6th gear. After that the acceleration slows down and it takes all the space available to reach its top speed. Most of the time, if you don't try hard, you will never reach its top speed. You will reach very close but you wont hit the top speed. You'll just run out of space.
I managed to reach its top speed but then I noticed that it doesn't even like to stay at its top speed. A slight turn, a slight bump and the speed goes down by about 10 kph.
Its top speed without nos is 360 kph and with nos is a whooping 390 kph. That is insane top speed for a car that has only Race performance parts installed.
Top speed of McLaren F1 "elite" is 396 kph with Pro parts installed.
But given the fact that this car will hardly ever go above 350 kph in most of the races and it wont stay at top speed even on highways, it looks like a useless bonus in this car. I'm talking about R8 and not F1.

7. Race - Its a car made for racing. I loved racing in this thing. I really enjoyed it. I won many races, I lost some races. Overall experience was fun filled. By reading others posts and comments a person might think that this is a useless car but it isn't. Never read posts made by Cinque lovers.
Even though I lost some races against stupid LFA powerup spammers & deliberate rammer's, I also won some races against amateur Cinque and F1 owners. Its not as light weight as F1 so during a ram situation, it stays on the road instead of getting straight into a wall. That is good. I enjoyed driving the car.
Besides its good stability, the main reason for that was the engine sound. Absolutely mind blowing!! I will buy this car only to listen to that amazing engine!!
Another reason was that the car is not very sensitive on turns (which I usually like). So I enjoyed cutting corners in a more precise manner, racing like a pro. If you like sensitive handling cars like Lotus, Porsche's, this is not made for you. Stay away. Zonda's are not very sensitive btw. Not for me.
Not everyone will like this car, but those who do, they will absolutely love it! I can say that for sure.
I would like to mention one more thing, for me, Murci Roadster was the best car for free roam cruise until now, R8 LMS took its spot today. There is no other car that will make me feel happier during a high speed free roam cruise.

8. Pursuit - Here is another bonus, the car is really good in pursuits & team escapes. The car is a bit heavy. With just one high speed hit, you can disable a rhino standing in road block. Moving cop cars out of the way or smashing them and running away is pretty easy. It was fun. I got many more players with R8 LMS in team escapes means many already know that this car is really good at team escaping. Didn't use powerups even in a single team escape. Very nice, very very nice car. I loved team escaping in it.

9. Body kits - Its a special car so its quite obvious that it wont have any body kits and it will never have any body kits. You can't install spoilers or hoods. You can't remove the body kit that it already has.

10. Price - The car costs 6800 boost. Considering that the car is not very best in performance, this price is acceptable. Its all for its looks and sound of that engine. Don't even expect them to give IGC version of this car lol.

So, Shall you buy it? I'd say Yes.

Why you should buy it / Why you shouldn't buy it..
Yes, for racing. Even though its not as good as Cinque, you can win many races if you are driving it perfectly. Match making will give you proper opponents. Hopefully.
Yes, for pursuits. You drove a Zonda, El Camino or Bentley in pursuits & team escapes? If yes, this is very much similar to those cars. If no, you just need to know that its very nice car for pursuits & team escapes.
Yes, for its looks, collection, show off, cruising around, meet ups.
Yes, for that exceptionally amazing engine sound.
Yes, if you are an Audi fan, I don't think they will give you anything better than this any time soon.
No, for races. If you wish to race among the very best and set some best times on leaderboard, go for F1, Cinque or Reventon.
